No, your handheld device wirelessly synchs to your individual Outlook Web Access (OWA) page.

Can my email/messages be retrieved over the internet as well as on my mobile device?
Yes, each account has an Outlook Web Access (OWA) page that has an individualized user name and password.

Is special software needed to send messages to my mobile device?
Use of our web based software ensures HiPAA secure messages are sent. Messages may also be sent and received using other software, but those messages may or may not be encrypted over the internet and therefore may or may not be considered “secure”.

Can my answering service send me messages?
Yes, many answering services today are equipped with computers and email capable functionality which is all that would be required. Often there is a reduction in charges by the answering service when email communication is used in lieu of a paging system.

Is this text messaging or “texting”?
No, text messaging, more properly known as SMS, is limited to 150 characters and is not reviewable through the PC. It should also be noted that many cell phone are unable to forward text messages. None of these issues arise with email on handheld devices.

Can I use regular Outlook instead of Outlook Web Access?
Yes, we support secure connections via Outlook 2003.

Can I send messages to my consultants and colleagues?
Yes, that is one of strengths of this system. A simple question can be answered in seconds. If a colleague is also on the system then you are assured HiPAA compliance.
